Hurricane batting tool

It does a similar job to the much cheaper H. You would still need a bucket of balls and a net though. It uses resistance bands to build up the hitters strength and speed.

The batter strikes the ball causing it to twist on its axis and the bands return the ball back to starting position.

The Hurricane 4 would be great for smaller spaces though and even comes with a carrying bag to transport it with to practices or games. It is also highly adjustable for work on both high and low balls and also accommodates players of all sizes. Rapsodo is an expensive hitting aid.

It is the top of the line consumer product to measure and track ball flight. We use it at Bat Digest to derive exit speeds. Although very expensive, and probably too much so, for individuals, it is another quiver of options for the player looking for every advantage possible in their hitting aids. See our full Rapsodo Hitting Tank review. There are a large number of products on the market and several of them are great options, all depending on what your player needs work on and what you are trying to improve upon.

My son 13 year old son wants a Backspin tee. Do you recommend that or stick with your top 5 picks above. Thank you. I appreciate your feedback I have been a hitting instructor for over 13 years and I ve used every tee imaginable, Tanner Tee included, and I ve never seen a better tee than the MaxOver Tees. I love the MaxOver tee because it s light weight yet very stable.

A lot of research and design has went into the construction of these tees. As a hitting instructor, my tees take a beating, but they still look and work like they are brand new! Thanks for the article. Many dollars to spent trying to help a young batter. Got rid of back swing slop, forces hands inside, and singular focus where he sees the bat hitting the ball. He got so good that we used the 2. Can be used with real baseballs hitting line drives with the golfball sized TCBs over and over again dropping blindly and directly out of the pipe.

He can try and anticipate, but the bat speed and hands have to be right to hit it perfectly. He now has a short sweet swing while complete focus in the pitcher and ball. The rest was for more advanced training.

Hey, I understand that you don t want to be negative but this is why people come to these websites. Please explain why your experience with Backspin was negative. The Tee is very expensive and people would like to know more about it.

You can preface your comments with this was your experience and personal opinion but I m assuming you want to help the consumers of these products. Yeah that makes sense. I ll do a better job explaining my experience with the tee. I appreciate the feedback. The Impact Bat is a baseball training bat that reinforces the proper hand position at contact. It gives instant feedback and creates the proper muscle memory. Used with wiffle balls, tennis balls or other lite balls.

Choose from 4 different sizes. We most likely earn a comission from companies we link to on this site. Podcast Blog YouTube Facebook. Exact matches only. Search in title. If you square up the hit stick with a level swing it will spin. This provides an incentive to make good solid contact, because ball players are naturally competitive and want to see how many rotations they can get out of it.

In addition it takes a few seconds for the hit stick to return to a stationary position after each hit. That gives the hitter just enough time to regain their composure and get in position for their next swing without taking so long that it gets frustrating.

Our Hurricane hitting machine is basically set up year round, but it can be disassembled in about two minutes and comes with a carry bag. When transporting it short distances around town I just set it in the back of my truck fully assembled. It also comes with a set of heavy duty stakes for anchoring it when used outside.

They work, but most of the time they are not needed because it does not move much at all with normal use. It has a 4. Here is a video of my son using it in the front yard. You are supposed to leave the bungee straps on it so that it returns to the starting position after every swing.

I do not encourage this reckless behavior, and if anyone is injured while repeating it I accept no liability. What you are watching here is a game he made up with his friends. They really enjoy it and it could actually help him because he wants to become a switch hitter. This video is how he uses it by himself to work on left and right handed hitting. When it really gets interesting is when we have two boys playing at the same time.

I was kind of impressed with the intricacy of the rules they have come up with. It is also fun to watch. Two players stand on opposite sides and hit it back and forth, with one player hitting left handed and the other player hitting right handed. The head is not allowed to rotate more than once without being hit.

Logically whoever gets three strikes first looses. After every 10 consecutive hits the players switch who is hitting right or left handed. Besides made up contest and winter workouts we also work the hurricane into our team practices. When we do hitting practice it is an easy station for the boys to rotate through that does not require a coach. When we go live at practice or play two-strike work up, the on deck hitters hammer away at it. Does Hitting at a station like this actually Benefit a Hitter?

What Does the Hurricane Compare to or Replace? To recap thus far, the feet should be spread apart, toes pointing perpendicular to the pitcher and catcher line-up. Bring the bat back to about ten o'clock with the elbow up and level with their fist and shoulder. Now have them twist back, or "cock" or wind up their hips back away from the pitcher. Make sure during batting practice that they bring back the forward foot so that it's just a couple of inches from the rear foot, still remaining parallel to each other.

And don't let them deviate during game day. Now have your batter look that pitcher into the eye and be ready to follow their pitching arm letting go of the ball and do not let them take their eye off the ball. And as they stare down the ball coming towards them, have them step out with their forward foot, un-wind their hips and swing their bat as hard as they can and point their forward foot towards the direction they want to hit the ball.

Following these above mentioned steps during your weekly or daily batting practice, will help ensure a less timid and more confident team on game day. The Immaculate Inning and Other Baseball Rarities By Michael Piccoli By its very nature, baseball is the sport that is most conducive to endless debates and arguments over the relative merits of its players.

Since each of the ballparks is unique with respect to the size and shape of their outfields and the height of their fences, there will never be a logical way to determine the definitive "best" pitcher or hitter. Unlike basketball or tennis, for example, baseball is not played in a uniform setting which makes comparing the statistics of players, who play half of their games in their own unique home stadiums, dubious at best. There are, however, rare player accomplishments in baseball history which transcend the differences of the playing fields, or the weather conditions at the time, or anything else for that matter.

They are noteworthy for both their tremendous infrequency and their high level of achievement I suspect fans will argue over which feat is the most impressive for some time to come. This feat has been accomplished only 47 times in Major League Baseball history. Forty-four pitchers have done it once during their careers while 3 have done it twice. You realize it's a rare event when you look at the number of possible opportunities versus the number of actual occurrences.

In each game, pitchers have 8 or 9 opportunities to pitch a half inning. Each of 30 teams play games each. That's a range of between 38,, chances for all pitchers to pitch an Immaculate Inning Multiply those numbers by, say, only 30 seasons and you get 1,, - 1,, opportunities.

Now compare that to only 47 actual occurrences. It's mind boggling! No batter has hit more than that and no player has hit 4 in a game more than once during his career. Again, the numbers are staggering: 9 players have an opportunity to hit 4 home runs in each of games. There are 30 teams. The total opportunities are 43, in one season. If we multiply that number as we did in the first illustration by only 30 seasons, we get a grand total of 1,, opportunities.

We then compare 16 occurrences to that number. I'd say the 4 home run game is a baseball rarity! Since the first Baseball Triple Crown was awarded for hitting in , only 17 players have won it making it one of the rarest of all achievements in baseball.

While not as rare as the batting Triple Crown, this prize has been awarded only 38 times since it was first presented in
