Heres how I did this :. I changed my router settings and network properties using the advanced settings link to have no encryption. Ran the set up utility again - bingo - adaptor joins the network. I then spent hours trying every different permutation of encryption, and the adaptor fails to join the network with every option.
That bit has to be done by changing the advanced settings when viewing the wireless network properties - nothing inside the router settings. I'm using Draytek USB wireless adaptors. Still can see the network broadcasting but have to manually connect.
Conclusion : Dell is not compatible with my network hardware because the network can only run with AES encryption. Hope this info proves useful to somebody - if only to prevent them spending the amount of time that I've wasted on the matter. Browse Community. Turn on suggestions.
