Furthermore, th Emma Kennedy is a die-hard fan of one of the most iconic Danish crime dramas, the legendary "Forbrydelsen", a show that became a cornerstone for the emerging Nordic noir phenomenon. Furthermore, there is a synopsis of all three seasons' plotlines along with the introduction of the main characters with a short paragraph describing the peculiarities of each one, all written in a fine sarcastic style that made me laugh too many times. It should be noted that "Forbrydelsen" was one of the first Scandinavian TV shows to export in the U.
In Denmark. Emma Kennedy's book though is not limited to the reality of the series, but also contains chapters introducing the Danish way of life in a variety of diverse dimensions such as Politics, Dating, Interior Design and others. I found the chapters on the series' seasons more interesting and I could have skipped the other information, even though I suppose that it's ok to learn a thing or two more about the infamous Danish lifestyle. There is a kind of melancholia in her tone and she writes that she will never forger the shooting of the series and the intense, emotional charge of some of the scenes.
If you are a keen "Forbrydelsen" fan and a Nordic noir loyal follower, you should buy this little book and it is sure that you will be entertained and you won't regret it. It had a much lighter tone than I had expected though given the bleakness of the series it was nice to have a little humour from cast and others involved.
There are also a number of knitting patterns for those who wish to re-create the Sarah Lund look. It proved a fun book to dip into and it made me wish I was a knitter. Dec 04, Linn rated it really liked it.
Considering my obsession with all things "Forbrydelsen", there was no way I was not going to like this book. And it is very funny, great for finally understanding any plot holes you where wondering about, or as a guidebook in becoming Danish. It's a super light read, and a nice way to pass time between episodes.
But, it does also feel it might have been a little bit too quickly put together. There are unnecessary spelling mistakes, the Danish culture advises some times don't make sense and somet Considering my obsession with all things "Forbrydelsen", there was no way I was not going to like this book.
There are unnecessary spelling mistakes, the Danish culture advises some times don't make sense and sometimes are just wrong, but this probably only bugs me as a half-dane , and there are factual mistakes, but all in all it's fun and entertaining. Contains massive spoilers for the two first seasons though, so watch them first!
In fact watch them regardless of whether you want to read the book. They're that good. Tak og farvel View 2 comments. Feb 25, Iris rated it liked it. Think nicotine gum, fire hazards, farts, guns, and fish.
Warning: it's also full of spoilers for seasons one and two, so watch as much of the show as possible before you just can't resist digging in to this witty book. The Danish language lessons are Ionesco-esque in their bizarre humor. There are also painstaking knitting instructions for Sara Lund's sweaters, and even for knit dolls of Sara and Murderer. Loved the way it was written and the fact that it even includes knitting patterns for a teeny Sarah Lund and a gun cozy! It manages to somewhat fill the aching void at the heart of my being now that season 3 is finished.
