Yes, you will receive an electronic certificate for the unit which you have passed. When and how are e-certificates released?

Please refer to the Exam Fees, Invoicing and Billing policy. To resit a unit, you will need to pay the Standard Qualification Fee for the unit plus the Virtual Centre Fee for the unit. You are required to complete the full qualification within a three-year period. CIOLQ does not specify how many times you resit a unit. The three-year full exam completion period applies from the first year that you receive a unit certificate.

Successful candidates are entitled to use the designation DipTrans IoL and may be eligible to apply for Membership or Associate Membership of the Institute. The Diploma tests the ability of candidates to translate from their source language into the mother tongue to a professional standard, and their awareness of the professional task of the translator. Candidates are required to have an appropriate level of writing skills in their target language.
The passages set for translation will be of a standard of difficulty that translators would expect to meet in their daily work. They will not, however, be of a highly technical or specialised nature. Candidates are emphatically advised that those holding a degree in languages generally require additional experience or training. In addition, once you have the DipTrans, applying for full CIOL membership and Chartered Linguist status can set you apart to ensure you get the recognition and reward you deserve.
